Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a surprising collaboration that defies traditional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Uncovered
According to the authorized statement, "An unusual confrontation pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of banned rituals and monstrous transformations reverberate through the shadows." The narrative presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a secret sect.
The adventure concentrates on "strange trials and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses
The trailer features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Bonus Content
Players who finish the mission will obtain an unique katana alongside several objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's newest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Previous Anime Partnerships
This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that clearly echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
