Diving into a Unique Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Turdy Character in a Mission to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have found plenty of entertaining independent titles. But, one stands out for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure lets you play a character that is actually a dung striving to make its way to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

Player controls is straightforward: you only need a jump control. Throughout one hundred fifty challenges, encounter tough enemies and visit a market to acquire skins for your fecal avatar.

Time your jumps with caution, since one error forces starting over. Leap off air pockets to propel yourself upward, cross crumbling surfaces, and touch triggers to reveal new areas. Earn currency and use them on challenging stages in which the action gets crazy.

Graphically, the demo features vibrant stages and catchy soundtrack. The simple art with moving abstract forms could recall fans of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although hard to name similar titles where you play as a dung character, gaming have long included scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, you can create grenades from character waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as soil enrichment. Naturally, such content is present extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already received notable recognition, such as winning at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is ready now on Steam, with the final release planned to arrive on Steam on November 19.
