One-time NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to address an attempted murder accusation stemming from a shooting that took place in May, with his attorney entering a innocent response on his behalf.

Detention logs in Essex, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was freed on Tuesday morning for his relocation to Florida. Brown, one of the most popular figures in the NFL, had waived extradition to Florida from New Jersey, where he was held after being taken into custody in Dubai.

Brown’s lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, stated in an message that he has earlier filed a documented innocent response to the murder attempt allegation. Brown could be in a Miami courtroom as early as Wednesday early for a bond session, Eiglarsh said.

According to his detention document, Brown is alleged of taking a handgun from a protection guard after a celebrity fighting bout in May and shooting multiple shots at a person he had confronted with before. The claimed target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, informed authorities that one shot scraped his throat.

Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was only safeguarding himself from Nantambu.

“The actions he was forced to take were exclusively in self-protection against the reported victim’s hostile behavior. Brown was targeted that night and behaved within his lawful privilege to protect himself,” Eiglarsh said.

Brown has dealt with several judicial challenges over the years. He earlier had been charged of battery of a truck employee, various family violence accusations, inability to pay family payments and additional occurrences.
