FBI Expands Washington Attack Probe
On Thursday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted searches at several properties as it expanded its probe into a attack in the nation's capital that occurred on the previous day, leaving one guardsman dead and another in critical condition.
Alleged Shooter's Background and Residence Raided
The search covered a property in the state of Washington associated with the suspect, man from Afghanistan Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who investigators revealed was involved with a CIA-backed group in Afghanistan before coming to the United States in 2021 under a resettlement program.
FBI agents seized a variety of tech equipment from the property, such as cellphones, notebook computers, and tablets, and questioned his kin, FBI director Patel announced at a news conference.
Guard Member Member Beckstrom Succumbs After Attack
Later on Thursday, President Trump declared that Beckstrom, one of the guardsmen injured in Washington DC, had died.
She, twenty years old, was one of two soldiers of the National Guard targeted; the second soldier, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still gravely injured, per the President.

The alleged gunman worked with agency-funded military units during the American conflict in the Afghan war, the CIA has stated.
The suspect, identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, twenty-nine, arrived in the United States in 2021 under an immigrant program that gave eligible individuals who had worked for the American government entry visas to the country.
The investigation remains active as officials collect clues and speak with individuals.
