Government Faced Allegations of Assault on Freedom of Expression After UK Reporter Detained
A leading Islamic civil liberties association has alleged the present leadership of a “blatant attack to freedom of expression” after federal immigration authorities detained British journalist Sami Hamdi this past Sunday.
The organization asserted that Hamdi was detained at San Francisco International airport facility due to speaking out against Israel’s continuing military campaign in the Gaza Strip. Hamdi is one of several people who have been detained and deported by federal agents for voicing pro-Palestine views.
The Department of Homeland Security announced that the journalist’s visa had been terminated, and that he was in custody “pending removal.”

British journalist Sami Hamdi was allegedly held Sunday by border officials at San Francisco international airport, and advocates claims that action is obvious reprisal for the Muslim commentator’s criticism of Israel while visiting the US.
Comments from the organization said it was “a blatant affront to free speech” to detain Hamdi for speaking out against the Israeli current military operations in the Gaza region while he engaged on a US tour. An administration official stated in a different statement that Hamdi is facing deportation.
