Supporters Call for Arrest of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of the actress are demanding that a person who jumped a barrier and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the Australian man shoving aside photographers and lunging at Grande while the cast walked down a yellow carpet flanked by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being arrested", though legal records showed that he was set to appear on the next day. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
History of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a performance. His Instagram profile contains videos of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last winter.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is obviously a punishable act," wrote an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user remarked.
Followers Voice Worry Over Grande's Safety
Several followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote a further message on Instagram.
Some supporters also faulted guards at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while some requested digital services to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Response and Event Details
In clips shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was touched by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of attendees had gathered in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore mall, including some who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be launched on 21 November, is the second of a two-film adaptation of the popular theatrical show Wicked, which centers on the surprising bond between two distinct characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and received ten Academy Award nods, earning a pair for best costume and production design.
