The Prince of Wales Set to Attend UN Climate Conference in South America

The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the COP30 climate summit in South America next month, as announced by royal officials.

Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday night at a event ahead of the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belem.

The King and Prince were participating in the museum gathering, marking an rare public appearance together at a pre-COP30 gathering co-hosted by the United Kingdom administration.

Climate Leadership Commitment

King Charles has been a long-time champion of environmental conservation - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be hosted in Rio ahead of the COP summit.

Royal sources have characterized Prince William's attendance at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an significant responsibility in "environmental negotiations".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the official car, were greeted attendees such as conservation experts, scientists, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and politicians.

This participation included speaking in concert with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco earlier this year.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The UN meeting will coincide with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he joins the COP summit on November 6th.

Recently the William described the prize competitors as "contemporary champions".

Royal Climate Legacy

King Charles has been a key figure at previous climate summits, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the critical dangers confronting humanity over climate change, global temperature increases and species extinction," the King told participants.
